The photos from the summer fête are on five phones, rehearsal recordings in a chat, the local archive in shoe boxes. Cloud albums cost monthly, belong to a corporation and can hardly be split into “public” and “members only”.
uttek Media Library gathers everything in one place on your web space: albums with cover and date, drag-and-drop upload, automatic thumbnails, removal of location and camera data, player for audio and video with seeking. Three views – gallery, list with details and cinema with slideshow – anyone can switch, you set the default in the administration.
Every album and item is public, members only or editors only. Uploads by members can appear only after approval, and a report button helps with personal rights. Storage limits in total and per person protect your web space. From Pro: statistics, import as ZIP with folders, export and self-registration.

Starts with SQLite – no database setup. As your business grows, switch to MySQL/MariaDB (PostgreSQL optional) with the admin wizard: test the connection, migrate all data, verify counts, switch over – with rollback.

Frequently asked questions
Which files can I upload?
Photos (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF), audio (MP3, M4A, OGG, WAV) and videos (MP4, WebM). Every file is checked for extension and actual content; executables and SVG are rejected. You set the largest file size yourself – the PHP limits of your host also apply.
What do the three views show?
Gallery shows tiles with thumbnails, list a table with album, date, size and views, cinema a large player with previous/next, keyboard control, slideshow and thumbnail strip. Everyone can switch; you set the default.
Who sees which media?
Visitors only see public albums and media, logged-in members also “members only”, editors everything. An item is only visible if both album and item allow it. Files are never served directly, always with a permission check.
Is the media library also in uttek Community?
Yes. uttek Community includes the same media library as a module from Pro. If you only want to manage photos, audio and videos, choose uttek Media Library; if you need a complete club or village website, choose uttek Community.
What do I need to run it?
Web space with PHP 8.2 or newer, GD for thumbnails and fileinfo for file checks; the PHP zip extension for ZIP import. SQLite is built in, MySQL/MariaDB optional from Pro. Enough storage for your media.
Can I try the demo?
Yes, without sign-up, with fictional sample data (sports club, local archive, choir & music school). Uploads are switched off in the demo; you can view the administration but not change it.
