uttek Mail & Calendar

No. uttek Mail & Calendar works with your existing addresses at Gmail, GMX, WEB.DE, Outlook, iCloud, your web host or your company. If you want an address with your own name, rent web space with mailboxes from a provider of your choice (usually €1–5 a month) – the wizard shows how. uttek does not issue addresses and does not store your emails on its own servers.

Enter the email address and password – the wizard detects the rest for all major providers and most web hosts. Google, Apple, Yahoo and Telekom require an app password; the wizard links the right page. Calendars can be connected at the same time.

The family package covers up to six people with their own login. Everyone shares a family calendar and a family address book; each person connects their own mailboxes and only sees their own emails. Children get a simple account without account management.

Yes, via IMAP and SMTP. Gmail requires an app password (with two-factor sign-in). For some personal and business accounts Microsoft only allows sign-in via its own Microsoft window – the wizard then shows what to do. For GMX, WEB.DE, Telekom, IONOS, STRATO and most web hosts, the normal password is enough.

Web space with PHP 8.2 or newer – often from the same provider that hosts your mailboxes. The database (SQLite) is built in; MySQL/MariaDB is optional from Business Pro. A cron job every five minutes fetches new emails and events even when the app is not open.

Yes, without sign-up. Every visit gets its own demo copy with sample data (family, personal, business), deleted after 24 hours. The mailboxes in the demo are simulated – nothing is sent or fetched; all people and addresses are fictitious.

Passwords are only stored as a secure hash; new passwords need at least 12 characters and are checked offline against a list of leaked passwords. Everyone can set up two-factor sign-in via an authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator, Aegis) with backup codes, and the admin can require it per role. After 5 failed attempts a login lockout with increasing delay applies; “forgot password” sends a single-use link valid for 1 hour. Optionally notes on emails and contacts – mailbox and calendar passwords (always encrypted) get a second layer are stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, with the key outside the web root.
