The club has an outdated homepage, events live in a WhatsApp group, the member list is a spreadsheet on the treasurer’s laptop and the photos from the summer fête are spread across five phones. In the village it is much the same: who offers neighbourly help, when does the parish council meet, which clubs are there at all?
uttek Community brings all this onto your own website that you maintain without any programming: at setup you choose a template – club, village/municipality or neighbourhood help – and get matching modules, categories, start page and first pages. News with image and category, events as a list or monthly calendar with calendar subscription, a directory of clubs and groups, contacts with photo and a “who helps whom” exchange where people reply via messages on the website – phone numbers and addresses stay private.
As a club website you also get committee & contacts, teams & sections with training times, club events and a membership administration with fee classes and fee status per year (status only – no payment processing, no bank details). Visitors register and the administrators approve them; content can be public or members only. The built-in media library (photos, audio, video with three views) is the same as in uttek Media Library. Everything runs on your web space, with no subscription and no ads.

Starts with SQLite – no database setup. As your business grows, switch to MySQL/MariaDB (PostgreSQL optional) with the admin wizard: test the connection, migrate all data, verify counts, switch over – with rollback.

Frequently asked questions
Is uttek Community suitable as a club website?
Yes, that is what the “club” template is for: a club website with news, club events, committee & contacts, teams & sections with training times, members’ area, media library and – from Pro – membership administration with fee status. Sports, music, heritage and supporters’ clubs all use the same template and adjust categories and pages.
Are membership fees collected?
No. The membership administration keeps fee classes, amounts and the status per year (open, paid, exempt, reminded). There is no payment processing and no direct debit, and no bank details are stored – the treasurer marks received fees themselves.
What is the difference between the templates?
The template switches on suitable modules and creates categories, start page and first pages: “club” with committee, teams and membership administration, “village/municipality” with club directory, events, exchange and local archive, “neighbourhood help” with the exchange at the centre. You can switch at any time or toggle modules individually – content is kept.
How does the “who helps whom” exchange work?
Logged-in members post offers or requests – optionally visible only after approval. Anyone who wants to help writes a message on the website; the recipient gets a notification (the email deliberately does not contain the text). Phone numbers and addresses stay private until shared. Expired entries close automatically.
Who may do what?
Roles control permissions: admin (everything), editor (posts, events, pages, groups, moderation), treasurer (membership administration and fees) and member (exchange, messages, members-only content, media library). Visitors only see public content. Permissions can be adjusted in the administration.
Is the media library available on its own?
Yes, as uttek Media Library. In uttek Community it is built in as a module from Pro – using the same technology: albums, gallery, list and cinema view with slideshow, upload approval, report button and storage limits.
What do I need to run it?
Web space with PHP 8.2 or newer and the GD image library. The database (SQLite) is built in, MySQL/MariaDB is optional from Pro. A daily cron job closes expired exchange entries and handles maintenance. PHP limits of your host also apply to uploads.
Can I try the demo?
Yes, without sign-up. Every visit gets its own demo copy with fictional sample data (sports club, parish, neighbourhood help) that is deleted after 24 hours. Uploads are switched off in the demo; you can view the administration but not change it.
